Mutual Appreciation

I just learned that my catnip toys are being featured on JennyJen 42's blog. It's really humbling when a complete stranger likes your stuff and writes about it. Thanks Jenny! Check out Jenny's Etsy store everyone. She has some really cute stuff. I especially love her bags!

It's So Hard To Say Good-bye

Selling an item is always exciting, but I have to admit that it's hard to part with items that I've spent time creating. Especially hard because each item is unique and can't be duplicated exactly. Here are a few of the items I've sold that are especially close to my heart.

The Joker is "Batman"

A few words of advice if you are planning to see "The Dark Knight":

1. Go to the bathroom before the movie because it's 2 hours and 30 minutes long. You won't want to miss a minute of it.

2. If you have Coulrophobia (fear of clowns) be warned.

3. If you are a member of the Academy, be prepared to nominate Heath Ledger in the Best Supporting Actor category. Not because he's dead, but because he deserves it. He should have been nominated for "Monster's Ball" and won for "Brokeback Mountain," but that's just my opinion.

Giant Chicken Attacks!

Heavy iTunes Rotation

Adele: "Chasing Pavements"

Adele has an amazing voice and she's really beautiful (not your typical skinny pop singer).

Fleet Foxes: "Oliver James"

I was at this show at Spaceland and was really wowed by the band. Amazing harmonies. Fleet Foxes will be huge (they should be or there's no justice in the world).

Sea Wolf: "You're a Wolf"

Fronted by Alex Church of my favorite Los Angeles based band Irving, Sea Wolf has a great sound and I can't stop listening to this song. It has such a great hook.

Kelly and Barbara

When I was an awkward young girl in the late '70s and early '80s, I desperately wanted to be just like two women: Jaclyn Smith (aka Kelly Garrett on "Charlie's Angels") and Valerie Bertinelli (aka Barbara Cooper on "One Day At A Time").

I couldn't understand why Farrah Fawcett (aka Jill Munroe) was getting all the attention when it was so obvious that Jaclyn Smith was way more beautiful. She walked the fine line of being both pretty AND smart (with the requisite updo and glasses), plus, she looked NICE. Farrah, on the other hand, looked like the popular cheerleader who would steal your boyfriend. Also, Jaclyn wasn't overtly sexy like Farrah. She looked classy pointing her gun in a white bikini and heels!

Valerie Bertinelli was the pretty, bubbly, popular girl next door. She wasn't intimidating popular. She looked like the girl who would give the new girl at school a tour of the campus and take her shopping at the mall for new clothes. She also seemed vulnerable and a bit damaged...after all, her parents were divorced, her sister was a drug addict and their super, Schneider, kept barging into their apartment. Oh how I longed for a beige corduroy blazer and a boyfriend named Cliff. Later, Valerie would grow up to marry her male doppelganger Eddie Van Halen!

Top Ten Actors

Rated by talent and hotness (not in any particular order):

1. Sam Rockwell (see: Confessions of a Dangerous Mind; Matchstick Men)
2. Ryan Gosling (see: Half Nelson; The Believer)
3. Gary Oldman (see: Sid and Nancy; The Dark Knight)
4. Christian Bale (see: Equilibrium; The Machinist; Laurel Canyon)
5. Lee Pace (see: Soldier's Girl; Wonderfalls)
6. Paddy Considine (see: Dead Man's Shoes; Hot Fuzz; In America)
7. Casey Affleck (see: Gone Baby Gone)
8. Viggo Mortensen (see: Lord of the Rings trilogy; A History of Violence)
9. James McAvoy (see: Wanted; Atonement)
10. Jimmy Stewart (see: It's a Wonderful Life; Vertigo; Harvey)

I'll be the first to admit my taste is a bit different. No pretty-boy Brad, Leo, Johnny for me. I like the passionate, quirky ones. Oh, and yes I know Jimmy Stewart is dead but he's my ideal.
